A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank on Monday, local media said.

Muhammad al-Zaarir was killed near an Israeli outpost close to the town of Al-Samou, south of Hebron, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Israeli forces prevented ambulance crews from reaching the teenager, Wafa said.

The spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, called the killing an "execution" carried out in "cold blood", Wafa reported.

"The Israeli occupation forces defy international law with the daily killings of Palestinians," he said.

Israeli forces "deliberately" shot Zaarir, according to a report by the Palestinian Al-Quds daily, adding that Israelis alleged that he attempted to carry out a "stabbing attack".

The Israeli army is yet to issue a statement on the killing.

More than 200 Palestinians - including 37 children - have been killed in Israel and the Palestinian territories since the start of the year, Wafa reported last week.
