Israeli army gasses Palestinian shepherds and farmers near Gaza's Khan Younis
The Israeli army forces on Monday attacked Palestinian goat herders, farmers, and agricultural workers with gas canisters along the eastern fence of Khan Younis city in the south of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
Local eyewitnesses told The New Arab that the Israeli soldiers stationed in military towers in the area fired live bullets from heavy machine guns and tear gas at Palestinian shepherds and farmers, forcing them to flee.
Mohammed Qudai, a farmer based in Khan Younis, told The New Arab that he experienced ongoing Israeli violations with plenty of other farmers.
"Every day, the Israeli army opened fire against us, even though they know that we are farmers and not involved in any military activities in Gaza," the 38-year-old father of seven said.
He added that in the past month, an Israeli soldier shot and wounded him in his leg, forcing Qudai to stay home without working and getting money for his family.
"I make about $US10 a day. This amount is not enough to keep my family afloat," he said.
He called on the Gaza-ruled Hamas to discuss these violations in the indirect negotiations with the Israelis to end them.
