An Israeli strike hit the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli for the first time early on Saturday, amid further bombardment of Beirut's suburbs and attempted Israeli ground incursions into the country's south.
A Lebanese security source told Reuters that a Hamas official, his wife and two children were killed in the strike which targeted a Palestinian refugee camp in Tripoli. Hamas-affiliated media said the strike killed a leader of the group's armed wing.
Israel also struck an area near Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport, Al Jazeera reported.
This attack took place in the early hours of Saturday, and appears to have targeted the same area which Israel hit on Thursday night in an attempt to kill Hashem Safieddine, who is likely to succeed Hassan Nasrallah as Hezbollah's leader.
Nearly 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of Israel's attacks on the country which intensified dramatically in September, with Israeli forces began a ground invasion of southern Lebanon on October 1.
Israel's deadly military campaign in Gaza remains ongoing. At least eight Palestinians were killed and others were injured early on Saturday following a strike on the Nuseirat camp and the city of Deir al-Balah, both in central Gaza, Palestinian media said.
