Israeli strikes have killed more Palestinian casualties in the Gaza Strip, killing scores in Rafah and Khan Younis as West Bank tensions are still ongoing.

Israeli strikes continued to rain on the war-hit Gaza Strip on Thursday, after a number of Palestinians were killed across Rafah, Gaza City and Khan Younis.

Israel struck residential buildings, targeting families, including women and children.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have continued their most intense assault on the West Bank in decades with five Palestinians killed in the city of Tulkarem on Thursday.

The Israeli army claims it is carrying out a "counter-terrorism" operation, accusing Iran of smuggling weapons to the occupied territory, but Palestinians see this as another attempt to punish the population.

On Thursday, five Palestinians were killed during an incursion into a mosque in Tulkarem with Jenin another target of the Israeli assault.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa said the death toll from the West Bank assault, which is expected to last several days, currently stands at 18 but is expected to rise.

The total Palestinian West Bank casualties since the start of the Gaza war on 7 October has reached 663 with around 5,600 injured.
