Israel detains cancer-stricken Palestinian in overnight raid on West Bank
Israeli forces detained 14 Palestinians, including a cancer patient who had been previously released from prison during overnight raids across the occupied West Bank late on Wednesday and early on Thursday.
Israeli forces also raided the patient's family home in Al-Bireh, the capital city of Ramallah.
Another former prisoner was re-arrested in Birzeit town, north of Ramallah, security sources told the Palestinian Authority's news agency Wafa.
He was released several months ago after serving a year and a half in administrative detention.
Three pairs of brothers were also detained by heavily armed forces during raids across towns and villages in Ramallah.
A group of young Palestinian men were attacked while they tried to stop the Israeli soldiers from carrying out their illegal raids. Two of them were shot in the foot.
In occupied Nablus, six Palestinians were detained in separate raids, including a teenager and two brothers.
The brother of 17-year-old Mohammad Zakarneh, who was killed by Israeli forces in April, was arrested, along with three others in the town of Hurra.
Two brothers were also detained in the nearby down of Al-Yamun.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, in defiance of international law, and commits regular abuses against Palestinian civilians.
More than 600,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in constructions considered illegal under international law.
