Eight Palestinians were reportedly detained by Israel on Friday in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces raided a house in the Al-Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron, security sources were cited as saying by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

They arrested two Palestinians and two more were detained from Hebron city.

A separate Israeli raid took place in the town of Kafr Rai, with two Palestinians detained, Wafa's sources said. The town is near the city of Jenin, a frequent target of Israeli aggression.

In Qabatiya, also near Jenin, another Palestinian was arrested after his family home was ransacked.

A Palestinian who lives in the Jenin refugee camp was also detained by Israeli troops stationed at the Jericho district's Al-Hamra checkpoint.

The arrests came amid a period of intense violence by Israeli forces and settlers, who have killed more than 100 Palestinians so far this year.

Also on Thursday, hundreds of Palestinians turned out in the village of Sanniriya near Qalqilya to mourn Abdel Karim Sheikh, a 21-year-old who was shot dead on 10 March by a settler. His body had been held by Israel for almost two months.

There are 700,000 Jewish settlers living in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in breach of international law.
