At least 1 million Palestinians are trapped in Gaza's south without adequate access to food and water, according to the UN's World Food Programme (WFP).
"1 million displaced ppl in south #Gaza are trapped, without clean water or sanitation. It's a public health and protection disaster," Carl Skau, the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the WFP, wrote on social media platform X.
Adding to the humanitarian crisis gripping the enclave, Israel continues to strike the southern city of Rafah.
Elsewhere, at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central city of Deir el-Balah, men gathered over the body of an 11-year-old boy who died during a bombardment of nearby Bureij refugee camp, one of at least 25 people killed in the previous 24 hours.
