Iraq's health ministry urged citizens on Friday to adhere to precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus during New Year celebrations.
The ministry statement advised residents to help stop the spread of the Omicron variant, including by wearing masks, social distancing and getting vaccinated.
Iraq has been pushing a vaccination campaign since the start of the year after Baghdad approved a number of vaccines for emergency use.
The health ministry also said on Friday that it reported 322 new Covid-19 cases, meaning there have been 2,092,156 total cases of the virus. It also reported seven new deaths, bringing its death toll from the virus to 24,115.
