A man in Iran was arrested on Tuesday for killing his 14-year-old daughter in an honour killing after she escaped her parents' home to be with a grown man her parents disapproved of.
Romina Ashrafi was beheaded with a sickle in her sleep in the city of Talesh, after she ran away with her paedophile boyfriend, age 35, according to local media.
She was found by the police and subsequently returned home to her family, when her father carried out the brutal attack.
According to local media, Ashrafi was sent home despite her "repeatedly warning" to the police that this would put her in danger.
After killing Ashrafi, her father handed himself over to the police with the sickle in hand and confessed to the honour killing, according to reports.
Her murder sparked outrage worldwide on social media.
