US Representative Ilhan Omar has slammed the White House over a statement about a call between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Omar tweeted a list of Israeli violations against Palestinians in recent days, noting these went without reference in the Wednesday release.

She said: "No mention of Sheikh Jarra[h].

"No mention of the al-Aqsa raid."

Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah are facing expulsion from their homes, and protesters there have experienced violence from Israeli authorities.

The Congresswoman argued: "You aren't prioritising human rights.

"You're siding with an oppressive occupation."

The White House's release on Wednesday said Biden: "condemned the rocket attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups, including against Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

"He conveyed his unwavering support for Israel's security and for Israel's legitimate right to defend itself and its people, while protecting civilians."

It added that Biden stressed the US’ support for "a pathway toward restoring sustainable calm."

The only reference to Jerusalem was Biden's "conviction… [it] must be a place of peace."

The statement continued, noting the US' "diplomatic engagement" with Middle Eastern nations such as "Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar".

The White House added that Washington had also been in contact "with Palestinian officials" without mentioning the State of Palestine.

According to the statement, Biden and Netanyahu will remain in contact "personally in the days ahead."

Their teams will also continue discussions.

Many social media users echoed Representative Omar’s sentiment.

Jewish Voice for Peace Action replied: "Exactly.

"Biden is openly siding with - and funding - the oppressor."

The Jewish Voice for Peace political branch also slammed a reported US decision to prevent a United Nations Security Council statement on the current situation in Palestine and Israel.

The group explained: "Palestinians deserve so much more."

According to AFP’s sources, the UNSC statement was designed to help bring about calm.
