Hezbollah said Saturday that a second senior commander was among 16 fighters killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut suburbs the previous day, as the total death toll reached 31, including three children.
Ahmed Mahmoud Wahbi led the military operations of the Lebanese group's elite Radwan Force during the Gaza war until early 2024.
The Israeli military said that its airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs on Friday eliminated Radwan Force chief Ibrahim Aqil and several other commanders.
Aqil had been a member of Hezbollah's highest military body, the Jihad Council, since 2008.
In the Gaza Strip, at least four people were killed in Israeli strikes on the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp, with more casualties reported in further Israeli attacks in Khan Younis.
In the enclave's north, Israeli forces destroyed residential buildings in Gaza City's Al-Zeitoun neighbourhood.
