Hezbollah drone 'taken out after entering Israeli territory': army
Israel's army said Tuesday that it had taken out a drone sent into its territory by Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
"The drone was monitored by our soldiers throughout the incident," the Israeli army said on Twitter.
"The [Israeli military] will continue to operate against any attempt by terrorists to violate Israeli sovereignty."
Political movement and militant group Hezbollah is a key regional rival of Israel. The two sides fought in a 2006 conflict that saw allegations of war crimes made against both sides.
It is not the first time Hezbollah has sent drones into Israel or the territories it illegally occupies. Israel has likewise flown drones into Lebanon.
An unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Lebanese faction was downed by the Israeli army in August after a flare-up of violence which saw Hezbollah launch rockets and Israel shoot artillery.
An Israeli drone was taken out by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon last September, the militant organisation said at the time.
