Palestinian-American Gigi Hadid to donate profits for modelling shows to Ukraine and Palestine
Palestinian-American model Gigi Hadid has pledged to help victims of war in Ukraine and Palestine, and called for an end to fighting sparked by the Russian invasion in Eastern Europe.
Hadid said in an Instagram post that she would donate her modelling fees for the Fall 2022 season to Ukrainians while continuing to assist Palestinians.
"I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine," she posted.
"Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion."
It is not known how much Hadid will donate, but she earned an estimated $9.5 million in 2018, according to Forbes.
Her net worth is said to be as much as $29 million, the Evening Standard has reported, making her one of the highest-paid models in the industry.
Hadid also had strong words against for leaders causing suffering across the world from Ukraine to Palestine.
"At the the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war- not leaders. HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE," she wrote.
Hadid, whose father is Palestinian, has been a vocal opponent of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories and siege on Gaza.
