Palestinians in Gaza protest against latest Israeli storming of the Al-Aqsa compound

On Wednesday evening, 26 July, dozens of Palestinians demonstrated near the fence separating the Gaza Strip and Israel to condemn continued incursions by extremist Jewish settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

Local eyewitnesses told The New Arab that several young men gathered near the fence separating Israel, raised Palestinian flags, and set used rubber tires on fire.

"We came to deliver a message that we will not leave our holy place of Al-Aqsa suffering alone, and we will continue to disturb the settlers who live near the border with Gaza until we force Israel to stop its violations against our lands," Mohammed Hamad, one of the protestors, said to TNA.

The protest coincides with another one held near the Old City Wall in Jerusalem by Israeli groups, which called for the gathering to mark the "memorial of the destruction of the Temple."

The extremist Israeli groups also called for a large-scale storming of the mosque today, 27 July, and tomorrow for the same occasion.

Earlier on Wednesday, hundreds of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in the morning, backed by Israeli police escort, according to an official in the Islamic Endowments Department of Anatolia.

The intrusions take place through the Magharba Gate in the western wall of the mosque and include tours in its courtyards.
