Palestinians in Gaza faced another night of relentless Israeli bombing as Israel vows on with its campaign despite concern from US officials over the death toll

Dozens of Palestinians were killed and wounded in Israeli attacks concentrated on central Gaza on Thursday, as health facilities struggle to keep up with the daily stream of casualties.

Strikes were reported in Deir al-Balah, Az Zawaida and around Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, which had been under Israeli raids for days, where hundreds of Palestinian families were still living.

The UN agency for Palestinians, known as UNRWA, said that only 10 out of 26 of its health centres were operational, while the International Committee of the Red Cross said its field hospital in south Gaza was at "breaking point".

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushed back on calls for an internal probe in failings of the Israeli military related to the 7 October Hamas attacks as pressure grows from the Israeli public to achieve a captives release deal.

Israeli jets struck southern Lebanon overnight on Wednesday and Thursday, with Lebanese media reporting the death of a member of Sunni faction Jamaa Islamiya.
