Four killings have taken place in regime-controlled areas of Syria in a week, according to a government ministry.

The regime's interior ministry on Saturday revealed details of a death that took place in the country's west in Hama province, bringing the total up to four.

The deceased, identified as Wael A., was allegedly shot and taken to hospital where he died, according to the ministry.

After a medical examination, it was found the cause of death was haemorrhaging and cerebral laceration resulting from a gunshot wound to the head, the ministry's statement said.

A person identified as Abdel Qader A. allegedly admitted during investigation that he had accidentally shot Wael A., the statement said, adding that he had called for help.

While the Syrian regime lost significant swathes of land during the country's ongoing war, which began in 2011, it has since regained much territory.

Currently, President Bashar Al-Assad holds the majority of Syria's territory.
