Five Egyptian expatriates have been detained in Kuwait and face deportation for alleged illegal fishing and hunting, according to local media.

They were sent to the Sharq police station in Kuwait City to be deported after they were accused of unlawfully fishing in Kuwait Bay, outlet Alanbaa reported.

Coastguards inspected the boat the Egyptians were found on and discovered seagulls. The five suspects reportedly admitted to hunting with the intention of selling to birds, breaking Kuwait's environmental law.
