Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has sent aid to those affected by the devastating 6 February earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria, the Daily Mail reported on Sunday.

The former Manchester United star who moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Nassr had sent a plane packed full of aid to the areas destroyed by the quakes.

The aid included tents, food packages, pillows and blankets, beds, baby food and milk and medical supplies to both Turkey and Syria, the report said.

The move came as a video emerged on social media showing a Syrian boy who was rescued from under the rubble coming face to face with Ronaldo, after saying he wished to meet the football star.

Nabil Saeed had made the request to rescue workers in Syria in a video shared on social media last month following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.

More than 50,000 people have died as a result of the quake. The death toll in Syria is more than 5,900, according to authorities.
