IS carry out suicide bomb attack on Turkish police
An Islamic State group militant is believed to have carried out a suicide bomb attack during a Turkish police search of a house close to the Syrian border on Thursday.
Local media reported that a man believed to be IS carried out the attack during a police operation at a home in Gaziantep, a city which has witnessed a numerous attacks inspired or led by the jihadi group.
"A terrorist found in a Daesh (IS) hideout activated his bomb belt," when police arrived, Dogan reported.
No police were hurt but several ambulances were rushed to the scene Anadolu news agency reported.
The suicide bomber dies while another person at the home was arrested in the operation.
Turkey is on maximum alert after a number of deadly attacks were carried out by Islamic State group militants and Kurdish separatists.
Security was particularly high on Thursday, a national holiday commemorating the 1919 start of Turkey's war of independence.
Earlier in the month a car bomb killed three police in Gaziantep, which is believed to have been carried out by IS.
Turkey has stepped up attacks in IS militants over the border in Syria which has seen the jihadi group launch rocket attacks on Turkish border towns.
