Capitol 'insurrection' committee to seek criminal charges against Donald Trump: report
The investigation into 2021’s riot at the US Capitol will recommend criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, according to the BBC.
The committee from the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the US Congress, is expected to publish its final report into the riot next week.
Angered by the results of the 2020 presidential election, Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol in Washington DC on 6 January 2021 to prevent Joe Biden from becoming President.

18 U.S.C. 2383, insurrection; 18 U.S.C. 1512(c), obstruction of an official proceeding; and 18 U.S.C. 371, conspiracy to defraud the United States government. LET’S GO!
The rioters damaged parts of the building and stormed into the inner chambers, forcing the legislators inside to flee to safety.
At least five people died, The Guardian had reported at the time, including police officers who were protecting the building.
In addition to the insurrection, media reported that the panel will also charge Trump with obstructing an official proceeding and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Trump has denied wrongdoing.
The full report will be made public on Wednesday, according to chairman Bennie Thompson, a Democrat who is heading the committee.
