Arab-British Little Mix star Jade revamps image ahead of solo career launch
Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall is set to revamp her image ahead of a solo career launch by dropping her last name.
The 29-year-old, who is of Egyptian-Yemeni descent on her mother’s side, is expected to be known just as “Jade” moving forward, copying the likes of single-named stars Cher, Adele, and Beyonce
The decision comes ahead of her hotly anticipated solo career likely to launch this summer, and was made following advice from Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, reported the Sun.
"Jade is going all out to make sure her solo career takes off,” an anonymous source told the British newspaper.
“It worked for Cheryl so they see no reason why it wouldn’t work for Jade,” they said.
Little Mix is currently preparing for their final tour across the UK before they break up. The last stint of shows will only include three of the original band after Jesy Nelson - who has already launched a solo career - decided to leave.
Jade rose to fame as a contestant on the British singing competition The X factor. Little Mix made history as the first girl group to win the UK version of the series.
