38 Palestinians injured as Israeli troops storm Nablus

Dozens of Palestinians were injured by Israeli tear gas and gunfire in the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank on Thursday, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.

“Red Crescent teams dealt with 38 injuries amid confrontations between Palestinians and the Israeli army in Nablus,” a Red Crescent statement said.

The Palestinian medical society said that one Palestinian was injured by a live bullet, while two were injured by metal bullets and 35 by tear gas.

The clashes broke out early on Thursday morning, according to the Anadolu news agency.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that a large number of Israeli troops raided several districts of Nablus, storming and searching Palestinian homes.

They said that clashes broke out between dozens of Palestinian youths and the Israeli army. Armed Palestinians also fought with the Israeli troops.

The Israeli troops fired bullets and tear gas as the Palestinian youths closed off roads to prevent Israeli armoured vehicles from entering the city, throwing stones and glass bottles, according to eyewitnesses.

On Wednesday, dozens of Palestinians were injured by bullets and tear gas as Israeli soldiers allowed settlers to storm Joseph’s Tomb east of Nablus.

Israeli forces frequently storm Nablus, amid ongoing deadly raids of Palestinian towns, cities, and refugee camps in the West Bank.

The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2023 has reached 151, said the Palestinian health ministry in a press release on Monday.
