Fifteen Palestinians were injured as Israeli forces conducted an attack overnight on the town of Deir Sharaf, west of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces stormed the town on Friday evening and were carrying out violent search operations up until Saturday morning after they claimed to have foiled a stabbing attack on an Israeli soldier.

The director of ambulance and emergency at the Palestinian Red Crescent in Nablus, Ahmed Jibril, told The New Arab's Arabic-language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that crews dealt with 15 injuries, including two Palestinians shot with rubber-coated metal bullets, and one who was beaten.

The army also closed the main road linking Nablus to Tulkarm and Jenin, forcing Palestinians moving between the two cities to find alternative routes, local sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

They added that the Israeli army raided and searched many shops and homes and confiscated CCTV recording devices to ensure they were not being recorded as they carried out the violent raid.

Israeli forces conducted a similar raid in the Rafidiya neighbourhood of Nablus earlier on Friday, arresting a Palestinian man who has previously been imprisoned by Israel.
