Kuwaiti designer takes Arab Haute Couture to Hollywood
Celebrated for his stunning craftsmanship and natural ability to create jaw-dropping, intrinsic designs, Kuwait-born Yousef al-Jasmi has become this century’s leading Arab Haute Couture designer.
Not only has he become one of the strongest fashion contenders from the MENA region, he is ultimately on his way to dethroning Lebanese influence on the red-carpet.
Yousef started designing at the ripe age of 17, opening his first boutique in Kuwait in 2008 to provide his clientele with a striking collection of hand-stitched unique creations.
Renowned for his signature love of crystals and all things that glitter and sparkle, his designs place a heavy emphasis on the wow-factor executed through luxurious embellishing and delicate detailing that perfectly balances extravagance with femininity.
With an Instagram following of over 900k, it's obvious that his fans adore his Swarovski studded dresses and ultra-sheer creations.
From unique bridal-wear to red-carpet glam, all his gowns showcase elaborate crystal formations that aim to extenuate the female body – from fringes to lace to sheer panelling – perfect for any delicious-diva or on-the-go city girl ready to turn up the glitz-o-meter.
So it's no wonder that not only did his designs get noticed by Hollywood's royalty in the form that is Lip-kit and Kyshadow goddess Kylie Jenner at this year's NYFW, but also Modern Family star Ariel Winter at this year's 68th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Whilst both starlets wore the same beautiful beaded sheer-gown, Jenner opted to style hers – as a mini – with a light blue denim jacket, going for a more casual look, whilst Winter chose to go full-on-glam with a longer version of the dress, as she dazzled spectators on the red carpet.
Yousef's previous clientele has also featured the A-list likes of Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift (who used his designs for stage outfits), Dita Von Teese and Paris Hilton to name just a few.
He also boasts a long lists of Arab celebrities that include Diana Karazon, Hind Bahrinya, May Hariri and Hessa al-Loughani, proving that fashion is truly a universal platform that stars from both the East and West are ready to celebrate.
Seems as if for this young Kuwait designer, the road to stardom is paved with crystals.
