The body of a woman has been found in an empty Kuwait apartment's deep-freezer, with reports suggesting the victim was a Filipino domestic worker.
Police searched the unit in the al-Salmiya area after a court warrant was issued to search the abandoned flat.

Officers discovered the remains of the woman in the freezer with stab wounds on the neck and torture marks on the body, Kuwait Times reported.

Police are searching for the previous occupants - a Lebanese man and his Syrian wife.

They left Kuwait in late 2016 after the man was wanted by police for a number of charges, including bounced cheques.

Two days before he left Kuwait, he reported a domestic worker in his employment missing.

The Philippines embassy in Kuwait said it is looking into claims the victim was a Filipino citizen, but said her nationality has not yet been confirmed.

Manila suspended the deployment of nationals to Kuwait in January after a number of abuse cases of Filipinos came to light.

Seven Filipinos have also been reportedly murdered in the Gulf state over the past years, including Arlene Castillo-Manzano who was buried in the Philippines on Thursday

Both countries have been attempting to resolve the crisis with the Philippines embassy in Kuwait assuring that the murder case will not affect relations between the two countries.
