Devastating Kuwait house fire kills 8 children from the same family

A devastating fire in Kuwait has killed eight children, according to state media on Saturday.

The victims were all inside the house when the fire erupted in the Sabah Al Ahmad residential area, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.

Others that were pulled out of the fire are receiving medical assistance at a nearby hospital, the a statement said, noting some were in critical condition.

"Kuwait Fire Service Directorate received a call on Saturday regarding a fire that broke out at a house in Sabah Al Ahmad residential area. The teams headed immediately to the site to put out the fire and start rescue operations,” a statement published by KUNA said.

"The fire crew managed to pull out all victims, some were in critical condition and all were transferred to a nearby hospital."

The deceased victims of the incident were all between the ages of 14 and 4, Kuwait-based social media users reported on Saturday, noting they were all siblings.

It is unclear what triggered the fire, though authorities confirmed an investigation is currently underway.
