Sudanese authorities are investigating ousted president Omar al-Bashir on charges of money laundering and corruption after a large hoard of cash was found at his home.

A judicial source told The New Arab's Arabic language service on Saturday that authorities had found cash totalling around $130 million at Bashir's home.

"The investigations into Bashir and other figures of the regime will finish as soon as possible and they will be charged," the source said.

The report comes after unconfirmed images and videos appeared online claiming to show the large hoard of dollars, euros and Sudanese pounds.

Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court over allegations of genocide, was removed on April 11 by the military following months of protests against his rule.

His family said this week that the former president had been moved from the presidential palace to the high-security Kobar prison in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
