Yemen rebels claim 'attack on Saudi port, drone strike on UAE airport'

Yemen's Houthi rebels have said they have carried out a naval attack on a Saudi port and drone strikes on Dubai's main airport, the group's SABA news agency reported on Sunday.

"Navy forces carried out a daring operation targeting a group of Saudi border guards at Jizan port… inflicting large losses and burning a number of warships," the agency said.

In another report on Sunday, the rebels said they had carried out air raids on Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, or comment from authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The Houthis have previously claimed to have carried out drone strikes in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The rebels have fired more than 200 missiles at Saudi Arabia since it intervened in Yemen in March 2015 when President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi fled into exile as they closed in on his last stronghold.

The United Nations says there have been nearly 10,000 confirmed deaths in the conflict since the Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015, although the real number is far higher.

The conflict has triggered what the UN describes as the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with three-quarters of the population - or 22 million people - in need of humanitarian aid.
