Saudi Arabia’s controversial crown prince’s trip to the UK is being postponed until March, due to "fears of protests" against his visit.

Mohammed bin Salman is postponing his visit to the UK from February to March 7-9, the UK Metropolitan Police has confirmed according to Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT).

Campaigners in the UK and across the world are continuously blasting bin Salman for spearheading the war in Yemen, which has become the world’s largest manmade humanitarian crisis, according to the UN.

"The crown prince is a figurehead for a regime with one of the worst human rights records in the world. He has overseen the devastating bombardment in Yemen, which has killed thousands of people and created a terrible humanitarian catastrophe,” said Andrew Smith of CAAT.

Last month, US President Donald Trump also cancelled his plans to attend the opening of a new US embassy in London over fears of protests.

He announced the decision in a midnight tweet amid reports in Britain that a Trump visit would be met with protests.

The president wrote that he was nixing the trip, initially scheduled for February, because he is displeased with the location of the new embassy and its price tag.

The new US embassy in London is located in a former post-industrial wasteland on the south side of the River Thames – a world away from its historic home in the capital's luxurious Mayfair district.
