Anger sparked among a local Palestinian community after an Israeli settler ran over a young boy in Hebron.
Eight-year-old Laith Youssef Shatat was injured in east of Yatta, located in southern Hebron on Tuesday afternoon, as he walked home from school.
He was quickly sent to Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron, where his currently being treated for “moderate injuries.”
After he was hit, he fell unconscious on impact and suffered head wounds.
Hebron is known for its especially hostile environment due to its high concentration of settler population. Its Palestinian residents live in fear and apartheid. Students are regularly harassed by settlers.
On Monday night, the Israeli army shot 13-year-old Jihad Mohammed Tamimi in Ramallah during clashes.
Eyewitnesses reported that Tamimi and other Palestinian teenagers were caught throwing stones and empty bottles at Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in the area of the village of Deir Nidham, 14 kilometres northwest of the city of Ramallah.
Last month, Israeli forces detained five children, including many others during midnight raids in the West Bank for reasons still unknown.
