Hizballah affiliate killed in suspected Israeli drone-strike in Syria
An Israeli drone allegedly shot and killed a member of a Hizballah-affiliated group in an apparent revenge attack in Syria on Sunday.
A missile hit Yasser Hussein al-Sayyid's car whilst he was driving on the road connecting Damascus and Khan Arnabeh in the Golan Heights.
The Israeli armed forces refused to comment on the attack and spokespersons for the pro-Assad National Defence Forces of which Sayyid was a member were not immediately available to give comment on the assassination.
The Israeli media reports the alleged killing is related to an exchange of missiles between Syria and Israel on Thursday night.
Syria launched Russian-made SA-5 surface-to-air missiles into Israeli airspace, causing Israel to deploy its Arrow anti-missile defense system for the first time ever.
"The next time the Syrians use their air defence systems against our planes we will destroy them without the slightest hesitation," Lieberman said on Israeli public radio.
Sayyid was reportedly a member of the group Golan Victory (Fauj al-Joulan), a part of the National Defence Forces affiliated to Hizballah and the Syrian regime.
