Israel is set to launch an official presence in the Gulf state of Abu Dhabi, according to reports.
Foreign Ministry director Dore Gold reportedly embarked on a secret visit this week to the emirate to agree the deal, reported Haaretz.
The mission is understood to be opening via the offices of the The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
According to the newspaper, Gold met with Adnan Amin, the director-general of IRENA, during the agency's General Council meeting, and they discussed opening an Israeli representative office as part of the international agency.
Gold spent three days in the United Arab Emirates, according to Haaretz.
The Israeli Ministry for Foreign Affairs announced that diplomat Rami Hatan will be heading the official - "and visible" - Israeli mission in Abu Dhabi, and "is expected to travel to the UAE soon".
