62 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in recent unrest

Two more Palestinians have been shot dead by Israeli forces on Thursday, bringing the number of killed to 62, with many gunned down during protests.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said a young Palestinian died on Thursday morning after Israeli occupation forces shot him near the Ibrahimi Mosque, in the city of Hebron.

Local sources told al-Araby al-Jadeed that the occupation troops fired more than seven bullets at the 24-year-old, leaving him to bleed on the ground for a long time before allowing anyone to aid him.

One of the witnesses added that the young man was heading towards the "school's neighbourhood," which is 50 metres away from the checkpoint close to where he was shot.

In another incident, another Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces in Hebron. Israeli police claim that the two Palestinians allegedly tried to stab Israeli soldiers.

Both incidents were followed by clashes between young Palestinians and Israeli security forces, according to an AFP journalist on the scene. Israeli forces fired tear gas at local residents who gathered around the area.

Israeli forces also arrested several Palestinians at dawn on Thursday in different parts of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.

Nine Israelis have been killed in attacks since October 1. One Israeli Jew and one Eritrean have also been killed after being mistaken for Palestinians.
