Egyptian singer causes outrage after describing Muslim call to prayer as 'screeches'
In an interview with On TV, Shireen Reda likened the call to prayer played from the mosques as 'screeches and shouts' which she claims wakes children up terrified.
"I believe the decision to unify the athan should be taken immediately because there are some reciters whose voices make a person leave religion," Reda had previously tweeted.
"Those men that are screeching, do they not hear themselves?" Reda asks, "Or do they do this on purpose?"
Kuwaiti singer Ahlam hit back at the comments made by Reda, saying "hold me back" and slamming her for her words.
Social media users have also slammed Reda for her comments.
Not everyone however objected.

You're right and you don't need to justify yourself, there are some voices that are nice, and others that really do screech.

You need to clarify you're talking about voices and not the athan itself
