A thrilling 1-0 victory for Wydad Casablanca against al-Ahly saw the Morocco club crowned champions of Africa football on Saturday.

Walid El-Karty scored the only goal of the game between the two North Africa football giants, with Wydad Casablanca winning 2-1 on aggregate.

Playing on home turf, Wydad Casablanca held on to a one goal lead after a 69th minute goal to the roar of a packed stadium in the Moroccan coastal city.

It sees Wydad Casablanca lift the continental cup for the first time since 1992, when they beat Sudan's al-Hilal.

They will also pocketed a $2.5 million prize and take part in next month's Fifa Club World Cup in the UAE.

Morocco celebrated deep into the night as Wydad Casablanca were crowned champions for the first time in 25 years.
