#Fail: Youthful rap dreams fall flat in Tunis

Travel across continents, jump barricades at gigs when ticketless, infiltrate VIP areas, create online petitions to raise funds … climb a clock-tower on Habib Bourguiba avenue in Tunis and demand your favourite French rap group visit Tunisia.

Well, it doesn’t always work.

This is what one Tunisian youth has discovered when earlier this week he attempted to serenade his favourite rap outfit, French group PNL, made up of brothers Ademo and N.O.S. (who are of Corsican-Algerian roots), from a precarious looking precipice upon a copper-coloured obelisk in downtown Tunis, unfurling a large, brightly-coloured banner promoting his cause in the process, to the bemusement of passers-bye.

Before long authorities arrived on the scene and demanded the youth descend, which he proceeded to do with ignominy, requiring assistance by a specialised crane. 

He was then escorted from the scene by Tunisian authorities for questioning, according to a statement from the Tunisian interior ministry.

PNL, best known for LPs Le monde Chico and Dans la légende, are yet to comment on whether they will schedule a visit to Tunisia based on developments.

The Interior Ministry announced that the young man who raised a banner calling for his favorite band to visit Tunisia  was lowered using a crane operated by the civil protection units and taken for further questioning.
