Jordanian border guards kill two Syrian infiltrators
Jordanian border guards have killed two infiltrators who tried to cross the borders from Syria to Jordan on Sunday, according to an official source in the general command of the Jordanian armed forces.
In a press statement issued Monday, the source said that at 9:45 pm on Sunday, Jordanian border guards spotted two people trying to cross the border to Jordan. The rapid response force applied the rules of engagement, killing the two infiltrators.
"The army will not hesitate to use the utmost force and any available weapons and equipment to deal with anyone who may be tempted to undermine the security of the country and its people," the source stated.
Since the beginning of the Syrian revolution in March 2011, the 370 km long border between Jordan and Syria has been subjected to continuous infiltration attempts by smugglers or members of extremist groups.
Jordanian border guards monitor the borders using advanced technology acquired in 2013, with surveillance cameras installed along the borders to easily detect movement and deal with it.
