Palestinian worker killed by tear gas as Israeli forces arrest three youths
Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank detained three young men from the town of Qabatiyeh near Jenin in the northern West Bank on Sunday morning and blew up two vehicles they were travelling in.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, a 48-year-old Palestinian worker died after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli forces near the Israeli separation wall in Tulkarm.
Muntasir Salloum, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club in Jenin, told The New Arab’s Arabic-language service that there was no information regarding the circumstances of the three men’s arrests, why their cars had been blown up, or where they were taken after they were detained.
He identified the men as Ahmed Abu Al-Rab, Jihad Abu Al-Rab, and Majdi Kamil.
Local sources told The New Arab’s Arabic service that Israeli special forces raided the eastern part of Qabatiyeh on Sunday morning, storming the Ibn Bitar School, and used loudspeakers to order the three youths to give themselves up.
They said that after detaining the men, they had blown up the two vehicles they were riding in and then withdrew from the town.
The Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported that 48-year-old Fuad Sebti Jouda died of a heart attack after inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli army at Palestinian workers waiting to cross into Israel via a checkpoint in the separation wall.
