Dubai chef charged with threatening to cut off love rival's 'manhood'
A Sri Lankan chef is standing trial in Dubai for allegedly threatening to cut the "manhood" off a love rival, media reported this week.
The 36-year-old was charged with sending threatening WhatsApp messages to a 33-year-old Indian man unless he stayed clear of his wife.
"I will kill you at [the local mall] - I will cut off your manhood," he allegedly sent to a love rival.
The man admitted to sending the messages, according to Dubai's public prosecution, while the text was allegedly found on the defendant's phone.
His victim said he feared the man would follow through on his threats, according to Gulf News.
"He threatened to kill me and insulted me with his messages," said the victim. "I panicked and feared that he would actually carry out his threats."
The next hearing is due to take place on 10 April.
