Palestinian teenager dies of wounds after being hit with Israeli gas canister on Gaza protest
A Palestinian teenager has died from his wounds after being hit by an Israeli tear gas canister on the Gaza border, the Hamas-run health ministry in the enclave said on Tuesday.
Hassan Nofel, aged 17, was hit in the face with a tear gas canister during a protest on the Gaza border on Friday, east of Al-Bureij, the ministry said, with the teenaged dying four days earlier.
Friday's protest saw two Palestinian teenagers killed and 17 others wounded by Israeli gunfire on the Gaza border.
More than 235 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the end of March, while two Israeli soldiers have been killed over the same period.
Over the past year, Palestinians have gathered every Friday on the Gaza border with Israel to urge an end to its decade-long blockade on the enclave.
Israeli troops have used snipers and tear gas on the protests, which has had a deadly impact on the already stretched health services in the country.
Israel and Hamas in Gaza have fought three wars since 2008.
