Palestinian teenager 'critically injured' in Israeli raid in West Bank town of al-Bireh
A Palestinian teenager has been left critically injured after being shot by occupying Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, 16-year-old Fawwaz Adel was shot in the head in the occupied city of al-Bireh, near Ramallah during an Israeli raid.
Israeli forces raided al-Bireh after settler’s car came under a shooting at near the checkpoint Beit El, on the north entrance to the city.
Occupying soldiers had also raided an automobile show and stole the recordings of their surveillance cameras.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. More than 600,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
All Israeli settlements across the occupied West Bank are classed as illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which asserts that "the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies".
Israeli forces and settlers routinely and sometimes fatally attack Palestinians in the occupied territories, demolishing their homes, poisoning their livestock and vandalising their properties.
