#GreatReturnMarch: Third Palestinian succumbs to wounds after Gaza massacre

A third Palestinian has died from his wounds on Saturday, just days after being shot by Israeli troops during protests in the besieged Gaza Strip, the territory's health ministry said.

Ahmed Samara, 21, succumbed to his wounds on Saturday, just days after being shot by Israeli forces during protests on Monday.

The death bring the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire on Monday to 62, when thousands of Palestinians protested as the US officially moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The other two men were 20-year-old Mohammed Mazen Alyan, 58-year-old Moein Abdel-Hamid Al-Saai, the Hamas-run ministry said in a statement Saturday.   

The ministry said Alyan was wounded east of the al-Bureij refugee camp, while other medical sources reported al-Saai was wounded to the east of Gaza City. Samara was wounded east of Jabalia, in the north of the enclave. 

Israel has come under international pressure after its border forces on Monday killed dozens of Palestinians protesting against the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem, along with the continuation of protests demanding their right to return.

More than 3,000 people were injured on Monday alone. 

It was the deadliest day in the besieged territory since the 2014 war. The UN on Friday voted to send a team of investigators to probe the deadly shootings, which took place as US delegates opened the new embassy in Jerusalem.

At least 118 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since Great Return March protests began on 30 March, calling for their right of return to their homelands leading up to the 70th anniversary of their expulsion, or Nakba.
