Iranian intelligence kill two Kurdish separatists in western Iran

Two Kurdish separatists were killed in a clash with members of Iran's intelligence service in the western city of Kermanshah, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

The report quotes Iran's intelligence ministry as saying in a statement that, along with the two killed, a "separatist terrorist team" was dismantled.

The ministry's statement said some ammunition and documents were uncovered from their house, indicating the militants were supported by some Arab countries. It offered no other details.

Iran has in the past accused the UAE and Saudi Arabia of aiding separatist groups to cause chaos in Iran. Tehran also says that Kurdish militants have found safe havens in Iraq's northern Kurdish region.

In July, at least ten Iranian border guards were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen near Iraq's border.

Last month, a deadly attack on a military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz that killed at least 25 people was initially blamed on the Gulf allies and the US, however the Islamic State group later claimed responsibility for the attack.
