Two dead following clashes at Lebanon's Ain al-Hilweh camp

At least two people have died in clashes between two rival Palestinian factions in Lebanon's Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp on Wednesday.

Two Fatah fighters were killed after clashes with Islamist gunmen in another day of violence in the camp, medical sources reported.

Wednesday's fighting ended in a truce between Fatah and the Badr Islamist group, sources told Reuters.

It brings the number of dead to six over the past week in the most recent outbreak of fighting in the camp between the two sides.

It began last Thursday when gunmen linked to the Islamist Badr group fired on the joint security headquarters in the camp.

Fatah, which controls security in Ain al-Hilweh, soon was engaged in fierce fighting with the militants which left 43 people injured and caused huge destruction in the camp.

Seven people were killed when fighting broke out in April between the Lebanese security force and Badr fighters.
