London’s Victoria coach station was evacuated by the police for around thirty minutes on Tuesday morning after a suspicious package was found.

The station was cleared for a short period of time while the package, suspected to be an abandoned suitcase, was inspected.

Police were on high alert for another terrorist attack after an explosion killed 22 people at a pop concert in Manchester on Monday night.

"The reported suspect package at Victoria Coach Station has now been cleared. Not suspicious. Thanks for your patience," said a statement from the London Metropolitan Police.

According to one eyewitness, police congregated around a group of suitcases that had been left unattended before a tannoy announced a full evacuation.

The incident occured in a busy commuter hotspot during rush-hour and travellers were held behind cordon lines for a short period of time.

Buckingham Palace Road, a main road in the area, was closed, resulting in heavy traffic jams in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
