Ali G star donates $1 million to Syrian refugees
Ali G and Bruno star Sacha Baron Cohen and Arrested Development's Isla Fisher will donate $1 million to victims of Syria's war.
Save the Children have announced that one-half of the sum will fund a vaccination programme for more than 250,000 children against a potential measles outbreak in northern Syria.
The other half of the donation will go towards supporting families, with a special concern for women and children, both inside Syria and in neighbouring countries in a programme run by the International Rescue Committee.
It will help provide education, healthcare, shelter and sanitation.
Justin Forsyth, chief executive of Save the Children, said the money would "save many thousands of lives and protect some of the most vulnerable children".
"By allowing us to make their generous donation to Syrian children public, Sacha and Isla are helping highlight the tragedy of the issue today," he added.
David Miliband, the former British foreign secretary who is president of the IRC, called the married couple's gift a "great expression of humanity".
