If Facebook was run by Muslims...
The site is adding five new pictures — a heart, a laughing face, a shocked one, sad and angry — as well as the thumbs-up signified by a Like.
But comedian Omar Imran, dubbed “the funniest Muslim on social media” by many of his Twitter and Facebook followers, was quick to offer a sarcastic take on the Reactions buttons with a "Muslim" twist.
The like reaction was replaced with Allahu Akbar (God is great).
This utterance is made infamous by terrorists twisting religious teachings who use it before their attacks, but it is a legitimate expression of joy used in ordinary everyday life.
For the heart, Imran used Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God)
The laughing face was replaced by Masha'allah -- an Arabic phrase that expresses appreciation, joy, praise, or thankfulness -- and the sad one with inalillah (We belong to God), usually said at funerals, while the angry one with Astaghfirullah (May God forgive my sins).
Previously, similar "Muslim satirical" versions of Facebook buttons were suggested, such as a button with the word Inshallah (God willing), which people in the Muslim world notoriously use to avoid committing to a yes or no answers.
