"This scares Trump": Americans taunt Republican-nominee in Arabic billboard

The billboard, located on Interstate 94 near Dearborn, home to a large Arab-American community, read: "Donald Trump can't read this, but he is scared of it."

The sign, which went up last weekend, also features a link to trumpisscared.org, a site funded by the Nuisance Committee, a campaign group actively in support of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The move comes in an apparent pitch to local Arab-American voters.

A spokeswoman for Nuisance Committee told a local newspaper it chose to place the billboard in Dearborn because of its high percentage of Arab Americans in a swing state.

"I like the idea of people who do not speak Arabic having to ask their friends who do speak Arabic to translate the board for them," Melissa Harris told WWJ Newsradio 950. "And I personally hope this also will generate some dialogue between Arabic speaking people and non-Arabic speaking people in Detroit and across the country."

Trump had called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States earlier this year. He's now calling for an "extreme vetting" of people entering the country.

The Nuisance Committee also released a series of campaign videos starring the voice of Star Trek's George Takei, one of which compared Trump's position on American Muslims to that of the US policy of imprisoning Japanese Americans in concentration camps during the Second World War.
