The UAE has pulled a popular paracetamol-based baby product from shops after it was found the packaging advised an incorrect dosage.

The health ministry said on Thursday that parents should stop using Panadol Baby and Infant Suspension products, which are used for children aged three months to five years. Overdose can ultimately result in liver damage.

Parents across the Gulf region voiced their concerns about the mix-up on Twitter.

People questioned who could be responsible for the error, and compared stringent checks on pharmaceutical drugs.

Doctors reasured parents on Twitter that the medicine itself was safe, and it was just an error in the labelling.

Still, this was enough to reassure many concerned parents who were just following the instructions.
